We are accepting applications for the following position.

   
  

CLASSIFICATION TITLE:             VP FINANCE/CFO

 DIVISION:                                   ADMINISTRATION

 REPORTS TO:                               PRESIDENT/CEO

 Position Summary:  Responsible for the effective and efficient management of the organiz-ation’s accounting systems, including budget, payroll, A/P, A/R, tax and auditing activities.  All functions are completed in accordance with the mission and applicable laws, regulations, and sound financial/accounting practices.  As Chief Financial Officer advise CEO on strategic program and business development issues and building organizational capacity.  As a member of the Leadership Team responsible for actively participating in creating and meeting the organization’s overall goals and objectives.

 Essential Functions:

 Complete all responsibilities and interact with staff, clients, community members, and others in accordance with Morningside’s Mission and Values.

Manage, supervise, and/or coordinate all finance related functions, including:  budget preparation and monitoring, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax preparation, and auditing.

Complete or oversee the completion of various filings including IRS Forms 990 and 5500 to meet regulatory requirements.

Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial data collection and reports.

Monitor fund balances for efficient cash management and to maximize cash flow.

Develop and prepare preliminary facility operating budget materials.

Maintain physical inventory and depreciation schedules.

Coordinate fiscal audits and provide fiscal information for program audits.

Coordinate computerized financial systems and reporting.

Hire, train, supervise and evaluate accounting services staff.

Train and assist administrative services staff in the use of computerized systems.

Assure confidentiality of all financial and sensitive information.

Review accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, laws, and GAAP.

Responsible for the safety of those supervised.

Provide staff support to Board of Trustees Finance Committee.

 Proficiently operate work related office equipment and computer programs

 Coordinate the organization’s risk management program to include development of policies and procedures to protect the organization.

 

Review and recommend insurance coverage to protect the assets of the organization.

 Working Conditions

 Work is performed in an office setting where interruptions, strict deadlines, and working independently on multiple assignments are constant.  Mobility sufficient to attend meetings; frequent local travel; and weekend and evening work may be necessary. 

 Minimum Qualifications

 Four years financial management experience in a corporation of $2 million or more, including experience using a fully computerized accounting system required.  Supervision of professional accounting staff preferred.  Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Accounting or Business or CPA preferred.

 Special Requirements

 Incumbent shall complete all training as required by applicable laws and regulations; funder contracts; and as directed by the Morningside Training Committee.
