What is the Morningside Ride and what is a Road
Rally?
The Morningside Ride is an entertaining fundraising event that appeals to a broad range of
people in the community.
Morningside’s Road Rally is a driving event in which participants in cars
(driver and navigator) answer questions and follow clues along a driving course
in Thurston County. The participants with the most
accurate and complete answers will win an award.
After completing the course, participants will enjoy a barbecue lunch,
beverages, a silent auction, prizes, and awards at the finish line party. Opportunities to support the event
include sponsorships, entry fees, silent auction items or service donation, and
door prizes. In-kind donation
opportunities are also available in the form of media sponsorships or other
aspects of the event.
What is Morningside and what do we do in the
community?
Since 1963, Morningside has provided services to people with disabilities in
Thurston
County.
Morningside has since expanded its services to six other counties in western
Washington, including Clallam, Jefferson,
Grays Harbor, Pacific, Mason, and Lewis counties. Our programs consist of Individual
Supported Employment, Group Supported Employment, High School Transition, and
Creative Employment Services. In
2007, we served 473 people with disabilities and employed 85 staff.
Funds raised from this event will support Morningside’s mission to assist adults with
disabilities to secure and maintain employment in the community. We also assist businesses to
accommodate employees with disabilities and diversify their workforce to better
reflect the make-up and ideals of the community.
We accomplish our mission by providing individualized services depending
on what skills each client needs to acquire or enhance to secure and maintain
employment. Morningside is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
